DIPLOMA IN FISH FARMING AND MANAGEMENT


Course Description
This programme emphasizes the scientific knowledge and method necessary for fish farming and management. Learners develop writing and thinking skills through complementary laboratory exercise involving experimentation and reports.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain the modern methods and techniques in planning, design, management and operation of fish farming
  • Describe problems of organizing and managing fish farm under experimental peasant system

  • Understand a number of scientific and technical aspects in the fish husbandry area
  • Understand the anatomy, physiology, behavior and health of fish
  • Ability to undertake work-related experience in the land-based sector (Aquaculture)

Entry Requirements
The following candidates are eligible to apply: Holders of WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level)/NABTEB or its equivalent with Credit passes in Four (4) subjects at not more than Two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, and any Two (2) relevant subjects.
