CERTIFICATE COURSE: SAFETY AND CRIME MANAGEMENT


Course Description
Learners will participate in weekly discussions. They will do major assignment and term paper.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course the learner should be able to:

  • Recognize when and why force may be necessary in law enforcement.
  • Comprehend the general principles governing the use of force.
  • Describe how human rights law impacts on law enforcement operations.
  • Recognize the specific rules on the use of firearms.

Learning Outcomes

  • To explore the nature, types, approaches and security related challenges and to boost human capacity.
  • Managing crime at local, grassroots and community levels.
  • Ability to conduct scientific investigations and interpret official documents in addition to analysing some of the major debates that dominate the existing literature on scientific crime investigation, prevention and management.
  • To train human resource required in various security related careers and professions within the public and private sector as well as skills to conduct criminology and investigative research.

Entry Requirements
The following candidates are eligible to apply:
  1. Holders of WASCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level)/NABTEB or its equivalent with Credit passes in English Language and any Two (2) relevant subjects
  2. Mature Candidates with related experience
  3. Candidates awaiting Results in the current year of application
